Dr Helen Monk

I am a retired General Medical Practitioner with over 30 years of experience. My career began in Paediatrics before transitioning into Family Medicine, where I developed a keen interest in Lifestyle Medicine.

In 2020, my life took an unexpected turn when I sustained significant brain injury. I found myself in the role of a patient rather than doctor!  After being discharged from the hospital, I was told to simply "wait to get better." But that left me wondering—what actually drives recovery?



With advancements in medical cell biology and environmental science, I discovered evidence-based solutions that could actively support my healing. This realization led me to research how lifestyle choices could enhance my recovery. My biggest motivation? Reducing my risk of dementia and other neurodegenerative problems. This journey—exploring simple, practical strategies to improve brain function—has fascinated me, given me hope and a burning desire to share this emerging information with others  These insights are not just valuable for those recovering from brain injuries, but for anyone looking to protect and nurture their brain health.
